Have you ever wonder why a certain type of pain occurs only on one side of the body? In addition to that, there has been scientific evidence that besides a presence of a pain there is a problem with one of our eyes.

The answer lies in Dr. John Juilliard who practices alternative medicine called Ayurvedic medicine which has the answers to these problems.
Our left side is completely different from our right side and Ayurvedic medicine requires sleeping only on the left side if we want to perceive our health.
What actually is all about? According to an ancient philosophy, our left side is a lymphatic dominant side. That’s way Ayurvedic medicine believes that the pain is caused by chronical blockage of our lymph, and if we feel a pain on our right side then there is a complete imbalance in our liver located on our right side.
Why should we sleep on our left side?
Well, the first reason will be removing all the toxins from our body. As it is described in Ayurveda medicine our small intestine removes the toxins with the sphincter muscle (ileocecal valve) located on the right side and at the beginning of the colon. It passes through our right side of the stomach where releases the toxins into the colon of the right side.
Therefore, if we sleep on our left side the gravity will help our body to remove the toxins very simple and easy. Another reason why we should sleep on our left side is because of our heart.
By sleeping on the left side the lymph vessels with the help of the gravity pumps the heart with less pressure.
Always rest after every meal
Ayurveda medicine requires rest after every meal and of course on the left side. Many people think that they should sleep one hour after a meal. But that’s wrong in so many ways.
Ayurveda medicine permits napping ten to fifteen minutes a period of time enough for our food to be digested. Organs that produce digestive enzymes are located on our left side. That means that they are in a good position and are capable of doing their job even better. So, therefore, the food goes through its natural course and continues through the stomach and if you sleep on the right side you will have to confront with the gravity.
This is one the main reason why it is recommended to take a ten minutes nap so you can be fresh and rested.
