Dark under eye circles are a common cosmetic problem for millions of women around the world. For some, it’s a hereditary problem while for others the problem is caused by a combination of improper rest, nutritional deficiencies or certain ailments. There are other factors which can cause dark under eye circles including over-straining of the eyes.
Nowadays, it’s totally normal to spend most of our days on our smartphones, tablets or laptops, making dark under eye circles a common issue. Even going out on a sunny day without your sunglasses can strain your eyes too much, eventually leading to the formation of the dark under eye circles. And, although they are hard to remove, there are many natural remedies which can certainly help.
Besides quickly reducing the appearance of the dark circles, the remedies we have for you today will also prevent them from appearing again. Baking soda is one of the most common ingredients used for this purpose. The powder has exfoliating properties which means it will remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and reduce the discoloration. However, it can also dehydrate the skin a bit, so using a heavy moisturizer should be applied to the area after the treatment.
Here are a few ways of using baking soda against dark under eye circles:
- 1 cup of lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon water
This is the simplest baking soda remedy against dark under eye circles. What you need to do is add the baking soda to the water and mix well, then soak a few cotton pads in it and apply them under your eyes. Leave the pads to work for 15-20 minutes, then wash off with water and apply a heavy moisturizer in the end. Use the treatment every day to eliminate the dark under eye circles and improve the health of your facial skin as well.
- 1 cup green tea
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Just like with the previous remedy, all you need to do is add the baking soda in the cup of green tea and mix well. Green tea is a great remedy for many skin problems thanks to the presence of antioxidants that can reduce skin discoloration and prevent the aging of your skin. When mixed with green tea, baking soda can easily and quickly remove your dark under eye circles. Dip two cotton pads in the mixture, apply them on the affected area, leave them to work for 15 minutes, then rinse with water and follow with a quality hydrating cream. Do this every day and the dark circles should disappear soon.
Although great for your skin, baking soda is a bit abrasive, especially for the delicate area under your eyes. This is why you must dilute the powder nicely before using it on your face. Don’t go for a more concentrated solution as it can dehydrate your skin and cause other problems.
